Title: Casting Development Engineer - 31889

Your Responsibilities

As the Casting Development Engineer, you will identify and implement cost reduction projects through engineering improvements and/or geometry changes for John Deere Foundry Works (JDFW), as well as John Deere sister unit casting suppliers, when applicable. In addition you will:

Provide technical support for engineering design initiatives driven by cost reduction, mass reductions, supplier optimization, and quality or delivery improvement, including participating in, evaluating, and validation of casting value improvement (VI) events related to casting cost and optimization improvements.

Update the Casting Center of Excellence (CCoE) management and leadership team to ensure effective communication of activities.

Maintain a global perspective related to improvement of the casting design and optimization processes, with an eye to sustaining John Deere as a global leader in the manufacture of highly-engineered cast products.

What Skills You Need

Eight or more years of experience in a casting design or foundry tooling design engineering role and an ability to think creatively in developing solutions to complex engineering problems.

3 years or more recent CAD experience using Creo/ProE or Solidworks solid modeling package with strong visualization capabilities and an ability to communicate one's ideas and concepts effectively through the use of CAD data.

Experience in roles that required an ability to effectively facilitate discussions at all levels of an engineering organization.

Experience in roles that required a demonstrated ability to gain buy-in without the benefit of authority.

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

Experience in solidification simulation utilizing Magmasoft, Pro-Cast, or similar industry-accepted software applications.


Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

Bachelors of Science in an Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Foundry preferred) or Technology discipline or other relevant degree with foundry engineering/tooling experience related to patterns and core boxes.
