Jacobs is seeking a Business Objects Developer for the Washington, D.C. office. Duties will include:

Review requirements and translate intotechnical tasks to meet system specifications

Collaborate with Client SMEs, team and othervendor teams to develop and implement solution

Develop and maintain Business Objects reports,universes, and metadata

Design and develop visualizations utilizingthe Enterprise Business Objects Suite of tools such as Lumira discovery anddesigner etc.

Run unit testing and validation of BusinessObjects reports and universes

Develop report prototypes and review and finetune report deliverables with team

Assist with deployment activities such asexporting BIAR files

Act as a key resource in designing,configuring, developing, and implementing enhancements and production fixes toexisting systems

Proactively monitor and identifyperformance/functional issues and recommend innovative improvements

Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 technical support andresolve production defects and issues

Utilize development best practices andappropriate patterns to develop software solutions

Create views, stored procedures, and queriesusing PL/SQL

Actively mitigate potential security gapsincluding SQL-injection, Cross Site scripting, Cross Site Request Forgery, etc.

Create technical documentation


US Citizen – Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance

Typically has a BS degree from an accredited college or university in a related scientific or engineering discipline and five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive experience, or an MS degree in a related scientific or engineering discipline and four (4) to six (6) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a related scientific or engineering discipline and zero (0) to three (3) years of related engineering experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

3-5 years of professional software developmentexperience

3-5 years of experience developing/maintainingBusiness Objects data visualizations, reports, universes, and metadata

Ability to act as a project’s technicallead/lead developer as needed

1-3 years of experience designing, anddeveloping solutions using PL/SQL

Experience with report development, SQL Programming, Data Visual Modeling, Scripting languages (JavaScript and/or PL/SQL)

Experience with both Oracle and SQL Server databases

Experience with SAP Software suite, including: SAP business objects suite 4.x, SAP Lumira Discovery, and SAP Lumira Designer

Strong problem solving and analytical skills

Excellent debugging skills

Ability to analyze existing code and identify areas where efficiency can be improved

Abilityto monitor production jobs, identify performance/functional issues andrecommend innovative improvements

Ability to create technical documentationsuch as design guides, deployment plans/guides, etc.

Experience with root cause analysis and defectresolution in a production environment

Ability to clearly communicate and sharesolutions and information with fellow team members

Desired Qualifications:

Experiencedeveloping test scripts and performing user acceptance testing

Experience with the following:

Prior experience supporting a governmentagency

Ability to adapt quickly to an existingcomplex environment

Strong initiative for solution, system andprocess improvements

Strong communication skills with internal teammembers and business stakeholders

Motivated and able to work proficiently in ateam environment and independently

Experience evaluating requirements andanalyzing them for gaps and future risks

Experience with: SharePoint, Serena Business Manager, Serena PVCS Version Manager, and Remedy Ticketing System

Essential Functions

Work Environment

General Office environment - The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.

Physical Requirements

Most work will be done at a desk or computer. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

Equipment and Machines

General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Attendance is critical at all times. Needs to be available to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last minute requests for overtime should the situation occur.
