The Business Economic Value (BEV) Director is responsible for providing leadership in the strategy development, planning and implementation of global reimbursement, health economics, outcomes research, market access and economic value programs for the Patient Monitoring and Diagnostics (PMD) business.

This leadership position is accountable for championing global economic value, reimbursement and market access integration into the specific Business Unit product development, pricing, and commercialization processes, supporting the evidence plan development and developing and mainlining the portfolio economic view and roadmap for each business. This includes identifying, understanding, and articulating the business opportunities and its relationship to therapy-level evidence requirements across geographies, exposed flanks/risks to optimal market access and the global evidence plan by stakeholder to close the gap.

This leader is a member of the PMD leadership team as well as a member of the Economics, Reimbursement, and Evidence (ERE) leadership team. This person is expected to have strong partnership and collaboration with their Business Unit GMs, Clinical leaders, up and downstream marketing and Field Clinical/Economic organization. In addition, they will play a critical role in developing the talent on the ERE team through their interactions via the core team.

A Day in the Life

Responsible for developing the Business Unit specific global reimbursement, health economics and economic value portfolio strategy and evidence roadmap. Reprioritizes strategy and project focus as required.

Works closely with the broader ERE organization to drive execution in order to meet business goals, navigate challenges, and propose solutions through the ERE Core Teams.

Communicates evidence requirements and reimbursement landscape, across the geographies, to the Business team and provides leadership support and direction for the evidence solutions to meet current and future business needs.

Serves as Value Based Healthcare economic advisor by sharing perspective, supporting efforts, and assisting in the operationalization of VBHC initiatives globally.

Provides economic input and direction in partnership with Business Unit Clinical (BUC) leaders to ensure that models are developed in a manner that is clinically relevant and the clinical data is suitable to meet reimbursement needs across the globe.

Collaborates with Marketing to drive global evidence strategies to support new indication/product launches, responds to stakeholder inquires, positions for competitive advantage, ensures alignment with desired business direction.

Works closely with the ERE functional leaders to identify the specific project resources.

Provides input into talent management, development and performance of ERE team members.

Works closely with ERE LT on optimal process development for the function.

Helps to develop ERE Functional Strategic Vision.

Responsible for BU objective setting and quarterly review specific to economic and reimbursement deliverables.

Point of contact for economic and reimbursement related due diligence for the businesses they support.

Provides critical evaluation and technical input into the Strategic Reimbursement and Economic Value plans and aspirational product messages.

Prepare and manage annual operating budget specific to the Health Economic/Outcomes research and policy support for the respective businesses.

Active participation in ERE and PMD leadership team activities, include implementation of functional strategic imperatives.

Must Have

Bachelor’s or higher degree in finance, physical/ biological/life sciences or related medical/scientific field.

10 years health policy, reimbursement, health economics, outcomes research, clinical research experience, finance, or related field within medical device, pharmaceutical industry, Hospital administration, or academia

6 years’ experience working with providers, payer/hospitals

3 years in a strategy development role (business or function)

Solid understanding of core business processes e.g. product development, pricing, evidence generation, commercialization of Class III (implantable devices)

Significant experience managing and leading teams with direct line management

Strong business acumen; can bridge clinical and economic science to the business

Strong Executive written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

Global experience (leading global teams, global individual contributor role)

Solid understanding of core business processes e.g. product development, pricing, evidence generation, commercialization of Class III (implantable devices)

Proven track-record of delivery on business commitments with business results well-articulated

Leadership and influence management skills

Experience working in a complex environment

Excellent oral and written communications

Works well in teams, inspiration leadership

Strong knowledge of economic and clinical research design and methodologies including statistics, statistical methodology, and application of statistics in scientific/medical research

Working knowledge of US coding, coverage, and payment

Demonstrated excellence in building networks and relationships, clear thinking and problem solving.

External focus – understands the healthcare landscape and market access conditions
