Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC), headquartered in Birmingham, AL, operates Southern Company's six nuclear reactors at three locations in Georgia and Alabama: two reactors at Plant Vogtle, near Waynesboro, GA; two reactors at Plant Hatch, near Baxley, GA; and two reactors at Plant Farley, near Dothan, AL. In addition, construction activities are underway for two new reactors at our Plant Vogtle location.

Budget Analyst (Plant Farley)

Summary of Position Duties

This position will fill the role of budget analyst at the Plant Farley site and serve as a liaison between the site and the corporate organization and between their assigned departments and the site Financial Operations manager. Specific job duties will include analyzing cost variances, validating cost projections, coaching and teaching budget coordinators and managers, and oversight of budget development for site functional areas. This position will participate in and/or lead monthly meetings with management to review the projection and budget variances.

Job Experience and Education

Four year degree in Accounting or related discipline

CPA, CMA, MAC or MBA desired.

Cost Analysis and Budgeting experience desired.

Knowledge of specific reporting requirements of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Requires a self-starter and an ability to make sound decisions

Ability to work with limited supervision

Demonstrates an ability to work well with others

Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access

Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills

Proactive in problem identification and resolution

Must be an accountable team player with a positive, enthusiastic attitude
