Managing Director- Board Liaison

This Managing Director will be working across the Corporate Executive, Corporate Strategy and Legal & Compliance departments, this individual will develop and implement on-going programs and projects that strategically engage BlackRock's Board of Directors, increase the firm's capability to on-board and orient Board members, and increase the Board of Directors' proficiency, understanding of, and accessibility to the firm.

Description:

This person will establish Board meeting agendas and key relevant communications that strategically engage the Board in the implementation of the core responsibility to oversee the business and affairs of the Company. They will work closely with senior members of BlackRock’s executive leadership team to develop and organize relevant business presentations and priority issues to be seen and evaluated by the Board. This role will have unparalleled exposure to the Board of Directors and senior leadership of BlackRock, including the opportunity to participate in wider leadership activities.

Responsibilities:

Design & co-ordinate agenda for quarterly Board meetings as well as multiple committee meetings and additional gatherings/calls as needed.

Work in partnership with the Corporate Strategy group and Chief of Staff to develop and communicate contextualized information for Board evaluation relevant to each of the businesses strategies/presentations.

Collaborate with Corporate Governance partners (Legal & Compliance, Investor Relations, Corporate Governance and Human Resources) to ensure corporate governance best practices and approaches.

Develop and maintain on-boarding process and content for new Directors, succession planning, and Board strengthening.

Supervise logistics team responsible for executing all supporting operations for board, committee and ad-hoc meetings.

Provide budget authority for all board related cost center controls including Board compensation.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have experience operating in a senior level capacity within a Strategy, Legal/ Corporate Governance or commercial business function. Must have experience dealing with Senior Executives and ideally, with Boards of Directors.

Financial Services industry knowledge is preferred; consideration will be given to well-qualified candidates from other corporate and non-profit organizations as well.

Demonstrable problem-solving, quantitative and analytical skills; familiarity with various business practices, financial statements and budgets, legal documentation, and strategic planning issues.

Exceptional communication and diplomacy skills.
