Minimum Qualifications (Education and/or Experience): Prior experience is not required, on-the-job training is provided. Purpose of the Job: To operate weighing equipment and ball mills to properly prepare batch for cellulating. Essential Job Functions: 1. The employee is required to monitor bin levels, ingredient weighing systems, elevators, screw conveyors, and ball mills to maintain sufficient amounts of batch to sustain production requirements. Climbs onto scrap box for emptying scrap silo. 2. Starts and stops mills as required by schedule. Obtains and adds grinding media to ball mills as required. Works with department personnel in clearing furnace and lehr jam-ups, material handling, and charging equipment. Assist department personnel with pan changes and ball mill oil change, as required. Makes minor repairs to equipment such as tightening or replacing loose bolts and nuts, broken or worn hoses, etc., and notifies a member of the Supervisory Staff of production and equipment failures. Operates industrial forklift trucks as necessary to perform required task. Maintains good housekeeping conditions in working area and observes safety regulations and practices. However, worker will intermittently stand and walk to perform task. Sitting/driving is performed by utilizing forklifts to transport materials. Maximum Occasional Frequent Continuous Lifting: 100 lbs. 45 - 70 lbs. 35 - 50 lbs. None Carrying: 70 lbs. 45 - 70 lbs. 35 - 50 lbs. None Comments: Frequently, the worker will bilaterally lift 50-pound bags of raw materials off pallets. Occasionally, the BMO will assist with pan changes, which consist of lifting 45 to 70 pound mold pans at a rate of one 1 per minute for approximately one 1 hour. Climbing: Occasionally, the worker is required to climb ladders to maintain or trouble shoot equipment. Bending: Frequently, the worker may bend to retrieve raw material bags from pallets. (Note: Bending, squatting, and kneeling are interchangeable and may be performed at the worker's discretion.) Squatting: Frequently, the worker may squat to retrieve raw material bags from pallets. (Note: Bending, squatting, and kneeling are interchangeable and may be performed at the worker's discretion.) Kneeling: Frequently, the worker may kneel to retrieve raw material bags from pallets. (Note: Bending, squatting, and kneeling are interchangeable and may be performed at the worker's discretion.) Crawling: Not Required. Twisting: Occasional, to be performed at the worker's discretion as needed while loading feeders, completing repair work, clearing jam-ups, and changing pans.
