The Aviation Captain will be responsible for ensuring the assigned flight is in full compliance with all appropriate Regulatory Agencies, United Health Group Policies as well as full compliance to operate the aircraft to the Manufacturers limitations. As Pilot-in Command, he / she will have the responsibility of ensuring a safe flight, physical safety of passengers and crew and operating the flight to provide a comfortable, timely operation of the aircraft. When assigned to a flight, the captain is the final authority in the operations of the aircraft. Primary Responsibilities:Exercise extensive knowledge of assigned aircraft, Federal Aviation Regulations, and policies and procedures that support the department missionSupervise the flight crew and ensure that all flight and ground operations comply with FAA regulations, federal, state, local and all applicable International AgenciesDetermine and verify all aircraft performance criteria, appropriate flight routes, as well as monitoring take-off and landing times to fulfill scheduling requirementsAnalyze weather conditions for each assigned so as to make decisions accordingly regarding possibility of delays, rerouting or flight cancellationsWork together with assigned crew members that will ensure the aircrafts is clean and prepared for flight with provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengersWork with Flight Scheduling, when necessary, to arrange alternative transportation for passengers if their flight schedule is affectedComplete all post flight duties with the assigned crew that includes, but not limited to, post flight inspection, maintenance reports, company record-keeping forms and ensuring that the aircraft is clean and restocked for the next out bound flightThis position does include additional non-flying duties as assignedEmploy a level of initiative, authority, responsibility, execution, and professionalism that is well beyond just piloting aircraftBe available to work (which will include non-pilot specific duties that support department goals) weekdays, nights, weekends, holidays, and for extended periods away from home Required QualificationsFirst Class Federal Aviation Administration Medical Certificate and an Airline Transport Pilot CertificateMinimum of 3,000 total flight hours, which includes 2,000 flight hours of Pilot in Command and 1,500 flight hours multi-engine turbine or jetAbility to work legally in the United States Preferred QualificationsBachelor's DegreeType rating in Dassault EASy II AvionicsExtensive international experience Careers at UnitedHealth Group.
