Automation Technician','170133','!*!QEP Automation Technicians provide support to QEP Companies by ensuring all existing and new facilities are electrically safe, compliant with applicable codes and standards, reliable, and efficient. To maintain safe and reliable operations, this group will perform the following; installation, inspection, calibration, configuration, maintenance, diagnostics, associated documentation, technical support, and training. This support covers a broad spectrum of RTU’s, EFM’s, radios, motor controls, pneumatic controls, AC / DC controls, instrumentation and various communication protocols. Automation Technicians comply with all required safety procedures and processes. Automation Technicians utilize several technical tools including unique software applications, testing and calibration equipment to complete work tasks.

Has competent understanding of electricity and electrical theory

Has a thorough understanding of the tools required for the job

Applies electrical construction techniques

Applies standard instrument installation techniques

Ability to understand, edit, maintain wiring diagrams and P&ID’s

Ability to apply and understand applicable codes, standards and regulations

Has competent computer skills, including communications protocols, Microsoft Office standard version, and applicable device software applications

Ability to recognize and repair malfunctions

Takes a logical approach to troubleshooting

Ability to recognize and develop solutions

Applies solid working knowledge and experience to solve moderately complex problems with supervision

Begins to develop own ideas and to plan own work with overall project plan or general direction from supervisor

Learns to multi-task and prioritize assigned duties

Mentors Associate technicians

Assimilates information and instruction readily

Is generally assigned tasks and completes them with moderate supervision

Works well as a team member, sharing responsibility for tasks or objectives and communicates routinely with individuals and/or groups to exchange, verify, and coordinate information

Provides guidance to less experienced employees

Detailed familiarity with many types of HSE processes, terminology and equipment

Can identify functional HSE application across all areas of work

Leads problem/solution identification process for non-conformances within assigned work area

Associates Degree in Instrumentation or Related Experience

 2 years of relevant experience

Valid driver's license, with an acceptable driving record
