Job Description

Responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Merchandising Department. Assists Buyers with product assortments and provides administrative and organizational support as needed. Assists with the selection and maintenance of specific product categories as determined by the Buyer. Executes tasks as assigned by the Merchandising Department to include: input of purchase orders, follow up on purchase orders, product assortment tasks and communication with internal and external parties as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

1. Assumes responsibility that administrative Buying Functions are properly coordinated.

a. Works with ordering system in reviewing merchandise lead times, forecasts, trends and seasonality.

b. Works with warehouse and suppliers on delivering problems, back orders, sale items, returns, new items, and product distributions.

c. Works with Accounting on any billing discrepancies.

d. Ensures that purchase orders are placed and documented on a daily basis. Track all orders to assure appropriate on-time delivery.

2. Assumes responsibility for Office Organization.

a. Communicates effectively with stores, vendors and other professionals.

b. Assembles, calculates and maintains reporting and statistical data for merchandise.

c. Provide organizational reports as determined by the Buyer.

d. Prepares and generates documentation as requested by the Buyer.

e. Performs other administrative and clerical tasks and completes special projects as assigned.

Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective business relations with stores, vendors, and other business professionals.

a. Responds to inquiries, handles or refers issues as appropriate while conveying a positive image of Kane’s.

b. Obtains and provides information as needed.

4. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with area staff and with management.

a. Provides support to other Buyers and personnel as needed.

b. Keeps management apprised of activities and important information.

5. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

a. Performs miscellaneous clerical and administrative tasks.

b. Performs other related duties and functions as required.

c. Performs special projects as assigned.

d. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.

Skills/Requirements

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Required Knowledge:

Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of the internet and other web-based tools. Knowledge of the industry.

Experience Required:

One year related experience.

Skills/Abilities:

Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Strong customer service Skills.

Strong organizational and project management skills.

Strong interpersonal and public relations skills.

Solid analytical, creative, and problem-solving abilities.

Able to work well independently and as part of a team.

Ability to negotiate in marketing and buying situations.
