Job Description
Job Purpose:Responsible for all day-to-day transportation activities, including monitoring the Operations Supervisors and their compliance with their job expectations. Making sure that the dispatching of vehicles is on schedule and is in compliance with local standards. The oversight of all customer service processes making sure compliance with the highest level of customer service is met or exceeded. Processing and verifying location payroll when needed.Major Responsibilities:Coordinates the dispatching, service monitoring, and turn-in activities involved in daily operations.Works with the Maintenance Manager to ensure that vehicles dispatched are in proper working condition.Prepares and verifies location payroll in the absence of the Payroll Clerk.Develops manpower requirements for Operations Supervisors, Bus Operators, and Customer Service Representatives.Coordinates operations personnel selection, recruitment, and training with the Safety Manager.Assists in developing procedure and policy manuals for Operations Supervisors, Bus Operators, and Customer Service RepresentativesEnsures accurate and timely collection and reporting of passenger statistics for presentation to McCarran International Airport.Assists with annual budget.Monitors and evaluates all operations activities. Included in the evaluation are the following: Service statistics, attendance record tracking, total work hours, total pay hours, customer complaint data, accident data, road call data, and other operations related functions.Performs any disciplinary action up to and including discharge of Operations Supervisors and other personnel.Client relations and representing First Transit in an official professional capacity.Develops and trains Operations Supervisors to make the next step in their careers.Union relations – maintains appropriate labor relations with the union shop stewards and officials, including grievance disputes.Other duties as assigned.Describe level of decision making and list examples of common decisions made:Implements management policies and makes decisions regarding proper enforcement.Resolves customer/client complaints and concerns.Recommends actions to General Manager including personnel and discipline.Develops procedure documents.Minimum Education & Certifications Required:Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent)Possess a CDL Operator’s license with required endorsementsExperience & Skills Required:Minimum of 3 years of transportation experience with increasing responsibilities.Must have knowledge of transit or shuttle operations, maintenance, and administrationKnowledge of FMCSA requirements and guidelines preferred.Must have good verbal and written communication skills.Excellent customer service skills and prior customer service management is preferred.Must be available to work and be on call at any hour of the day (24 hours).Must have good decision-making abilities and demonstrate effective delegation skills.Must demonstrate effective team building, staff development, and leadership skills.Must have excellent communication skills including negotiation and conflict resolution.Ability to effectively and clearly communicate in person with passengers and staff and may include the use of a two-way radio and email.Able to work all shift hours and days assigned, including weekends, evenings and overnight.Computer proficient in all required software.Physical Requirements & Working Conditions (include amount of travel):Able to successfully complete dexterity test and DOT physicalPushing/Pulling - Must be able to handle heavy wheelchairs and luggage.Lifting - Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds of luggage on a repetitive basis.Walking - Crossing lot, up and down bus loading area, around exterior of bus.Sitting Up to 1-2 hours daily while driving a service vehicle.Climbing in and out of a bus on a constant basis during service.Reaching - Must be able to reach to assist drivers when necessary with luggage.Handling - Doors, knobs, switches, handle.Hearing - Detecting problems with passengers, emergency vehicles, engine noise.Bending/Stooping - Pre-trip inspections, applying tie downs, sweeping.Seeing - Driving, reading signs, route sheet.Talking - Communicating with passengers, dispatch office and supervisor.Dropping - From emergency doors to ground.Standing - Must be able to stand up to 8 hours during a shift.Writing - Write reports in a coherent, legible way.Environmental - Position may be outdoors up to 8 hours daily and position works in extreme heat (above 100 degrees) and cold (under 30 degrees). Has extensive exposure to direct sunlight and changing weather conditions.Special RequirementsRequired to wear daily all company designated and provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of a shift while in designated work areas.
