The Assistant Actuary performs analysis across RGA\u2019s businesses and products to identify opportunities for financial optimization. Reviews the related risks, capital, treaties, financials, assets, financial models, projections, and underlying assumptions. Reviews and\/or develops models and analyses of structures that address financial optimization opportunities, and assesses the potential risk and financial impacts and outcomes for RGA, communicating findings and recommendations in a professional manner. Works with members of the team and other areas within RGA. Responsibilities Develop, maintain, document and\/or periodically update information sources, processes, tools, analyses, reports and\/or presentations regarding strategic business metrics. Perform ad hoc and regular analyses to increase understanding of block performance characteristics, reviewing and\/or developing actuarial assumptions, sensitivity tests, financial models and projections under senior actuaries\u2019 guidance. Propose and\/or evaluate potential management actions by performing risk analyses to assess the impact on current and future overall financials and other business considerations under senior actuaries\u2019 guidance. Summarize and communicate findings, results, and contextual information with clear and impactful messaging appropriate to audience and purpose. Establish and\/or maintain communications, framework, standards, and processes to enable these activities and continuously improve upon them. Maintain appropriate documentation and perform peer reviews as needed. Coordinate the activities of others in the team and\/or other departments to ensure appropriate analyses, key deliverables, and related, necessary actions are completed in a timely manner, as determined by project and business needs. Foster positive relationships, collaborate, and communicate professionally with key stakeholders and business partners, including senior executives. Participate in special projects, committees, meetings, and presentations with internal or external audiences as needed. May provide oversight and direction to junior associates in the department. If assigned, supervisory duties would include, but not be limited to, hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates, if assigned, and gives guidance on associate development. Requirements Education and Experience Required: Bachelor\u2019s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Statistics or related field ASA accreditation 3 years of actuarial experience in life insurance\/reinsurance Preferred: MAAA accreditation Willingness to pursue FSA accreditation 5 years of actuarial experience in life insurance\/reinsurance Skills and Abilities Required: Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Tableau, Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software (Prophet, MoSes, TAS, AXIS, or equivalent). Ability to adapt new methods, multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and balance priorities Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data\/results and model projections while balancing detail with department goals\/objectives Intermediate oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates. Intermediate interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, finance, accounting, systems, and administration. Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects. Competent project management skills. Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility and understanding. Intermediate ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures. Intermediate investigative, analytical and problem solving skills. Demonstrated knowledge of life, health, and\/or annuity products. Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation and financial reporting. Preferred: Reinsurance industry and product knowledge. Advanced knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation and financial reporting.
