Architectural Specifications Manager - Coil & Extrusion Coatings
High impact, professional business development position focused on driving market share by calling on architects and coordinating sales team efforts to drive new project specification business in a multi-state territory. This role will build relationships with architects and customers, focusing on Coil and Extrusion coatings. Responsibilities include developing relationships at top architectural firms, writing specifications, project tracking, and facilitating relationships with all levels of customers. The position will manage the specification process while collaborating and influencing sales leadership, customer service and technical service. The role requires extensive travel (over 50%) to satisfy proper engagement in projects and initiatives for the West coast region. The role will be based from a home office, ideally near an international airport. Position requires 7 years of experience and relationships in architectural and design community through building product sales or similar.
Consistently drive profitable growth in the territory by producing architectural specifications through new business development and core account retention. Demonstrate high level of negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Manage monthly minimum of 20 architectural meetings, and track Salesforce and bi-monthly reports.
Actively produce specifications and follow project pipeline through bid and award status for large projects (over 100,000sf).
Meet quarterly minimum architectural presentations with AIA/CEU, present in large and small public settings, including CEU Courses at conventions, lunch and learns, divisional trainings
Demonstrate understanding of the technical aspects and applications of our products. Maintain knowledge of new approaches and technologies, which can change or improve our differentiation. Work closely with industry contacts, and sharing and gathering market information.
Reach sales goals by focusing on new business development efforts on specific targeted architectural firms identified by leadership. Identify and develop differentiated value proposition to maximize the speed and effectiveness of new business commercialization.
Collaborate with technical service representatives, sales team, or other staff to perform account maintenance activities, which includes prioritizing and assigning work and determining work direction.
Represent Sherwin-Williams at national industry organizations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Seven years or more of successful experience in architectural building product sales required. Experience selling into architecture firms required.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Marketing, Business Administration or a technical field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
Architectural, Building and Construction, Steel, Aluminum or related industry experience required.
Apply advanced sales and related business principles and practices, develop and implement sales and related business strategies
Develop and foster relationships with customers and contacts
Facilitate sales and industry presentations, ability to present in large forums
Work with all levels, including of management
Prioritize and assign project related task
Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Digital Marketing); and other applications as required; create and utilize analytics to measure and track success
Communicate effectively with co-workers to provide and receive direction.
Business planning/consulting and territory financial analysis skills

Professional office environment; however will be subject to travel and its associated factors and may be subject to moderate levels of dust, odors, fumes, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, loud noises, and other environmental factors found in manufacturing environments.
Positions in this class typically require: typing, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work
