Design, develop and deploy custom software solutions that will support the Energy Resources and Trade (ER&T) front, middle and back office functions. This includes being actively involved in gathering requirements, decompose them to finer levels of granularity, analyze, design and implement solutions. Software development team organizational structure in which this position operates works very closely with end users, project management and production support teams, requiring strong interpersonal, analytical, development, facilitation and coordination skills. Work within a comprehensive application and system development methodology in order to provide efficient and consistent coding and documentation deliverables to meet the needs of this fast-paced environment. This position may be required to supervise contractors involved in development of applications and the enhancements and maintenance of existing applications. **While performing this role the candidate will:** • Code and test project ensuring coding and testing procedures are consistent with project specifications, client requirements and corporate IT policies. • Deliver high-quality software on time. • Work with project and production support teams to ensure solutions are aligned with acceptable support requirements and that the transition and delivery of new or upgraded systems are seamlessly moved to production support teams. • Manage time effectively working on one or more concurrent projects. • Follow/implement Sox or other regulatory requirements. • Provide adequate documentation for production support to manage support of custom software solutions in production and Disaster Recovery (DR). • Attend meetings and training as required • May be required to work with SMEs to perform reviews and/or Root Cause Analysis on production system failures, formulate corrective action plans, and implement them. • May be required to be part of weekly problem management meetings with clients and support teams to discuss open issues and tickets and prioritize remediation efforts. • Lead certain projects in all its aspects of project life-cycle; i.e., requirements gathering and analysis, scheduling, design, coding, test plans and production implementation documentation. Hands-on involvement is expected throughout. • Leads team or mentors other developers as needed. Provides critical technical capabilities to the team and teaches those skills to others. • Create required supporting documentation to help move custom software solutions to production support. • Act as the expert level support for development team provided custom applications. • Follow established department procedures, policies, and processes. After hours callout may be required in the performance of duties and responsibilities of this position. **Required Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:** • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least six years of experience in programming/analysis or if without a Bachelor’s degree, at least ten years’ experience in programming/analysis. • Minimum six years’ experience of .NET development using C#, WPF/Silverlight, Win-forms, ASP.NET, MVC, XML, XSLT in a team environment, substantial experience in using third party components such as Infragistics, Component-One etc. Strong experience consuming/implementing WCF services, ASP.NET. • Minimum six years of Oracle experience including very good knowledge of SQL optimization techniques, PL/SQL programming, analytics. • Significant knowledge of Object Oriented programming and design patterns. • Excellent communication and consultative skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT. • Excellent analytical and problem solving ability. • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers, clients and vendors. • Understanding of general IT standards, policies, best practices, guidelines, processes. • Strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation; teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, with the ability to work effectively with clients from various business organizations and lines of business, and IT management and staff. **Desired Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:** • Masters’ degree in computer science. • Experience developing: Visual Basic 6, Distributed computing systems with MSMQ or other middleware architecture, SQLServer, DCOM, Javascript. • Certifications related to software application development and support. • Significant experience utilizing Excel or other Microsoft office product object model from C#. • Knowledge of the electric system operations (generation scheduling, dispatch, control) • Knowledge of Electric retail operations. • Financial or Energy Trading experience. • Sarbanes/Oxley experience. • Change Management experience. • Knowledge of front- middle- and back-office trading systems & interfaces. • Knowledge of Big-Data technologies such as Hadoop, R, PIG, HIVE, Tableau etc. • Experience in implementing AWS/cloud solutions. “PSEG is proud to be an EEO/AA employer.
