Through our leadership expertise, high quality products, rich data and innovative ag technology, we strive to help the retailers and farmers they serve intelligently advance agriculture and help farmers win in every field around the world.    QualificationsThe Research Specialist role is the operating arm of an Answer Plot Team. The person in this role performs all aspects of operational functions including but not limited to: farm equipment preparation & operation, seed prep, equipment transport, field operations and GIS applications.  The Research Specialist reports to a Research Manager for his designated territory and assists in planning and executing the Answer Plot objectives for his/her region. The Research Specialist must be able to communicate effectively, keep detailed records, and follow instruction. Customer focus is imperative. % of Total Job Duty or Area of Responsibility  5% Work with the LOL safety team to ensure DOT and Safety compliance. This includes tracking fuel receipts, RAIR compliance; ensuring proper log book procedures are followed.  25% Crop scouting/advising: Considerable time will be spent walking Answer Plots to evaluate weed control, insect infestations and disease outbreaks, consulting with Agronomists or Technical Seed Managers on solutions, and planning operations to resolve issues with crop production.  25% Answer Plot maintenance and preparation: Much time is devoted to preparing sites for training sessions or grower field days. Grooming plots and planning protocol execution to coincide with these events is paramount.  25% Oversee and coordinate temporary labor needs: Summer Research Technicians require direction from Research Specialists to complete operational goals. The RS develops workflows and task lists and trains Summer Research Technicians on skills necessary to complete the work in a timely manner with exceptional quality. 20% Answer Plot Planning Activities: The Research Specialist will assist his/her Research Manager in a number of planning and organizing tasks such as but not limited to the following: sourcing sites, developing contracts, site layout, entry lists, database setup, equipment prep, fertilizer and CPP planning, operational plans, and data flow planning. Job Scope: Budget, Revenue, Direct Reports, Sales Volume, etc. Required Qualifications: Experience and Education College degree in Ag related field 2 years of small plot or Ag retail experience or 1-2 years previous AP Summer Research Technician Must have or can obtain a Class A CDL and Pesticide Applicators License within first 60 days of employment Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to work independently and in a team environment Must have a valid drivers license acceptable to company policy in order to operate company vehicle Previous experience operating farm or research equipment would be ideal Role will require daily and overnight travel, as well as extended hours (including weekends) (50% or more) Competencies & Other Skills Communication Delivers clear, concise, and effective verbal and written messages directed to the appropriate audience(s). In addition, should be able to communicate with all levels (verbal and written), as well as concentration, memory and decision making all part of normal job expectations. Environment: Farm/research equipment can be loud, fields are dusty and dirty, and weather conditions can vary from hot and humid to cold and wet.
