Job Description
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of this position is to balance, reconcile, and research tax functions. Frequent independent judgments are essential. The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in observance of Rite Aid\u2019s brand and strategy and adhere to our core values and service attributes. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

File payroll tax deposits by running reports to determine the tax amount due, creating payment coupons/reports, requesting checks (when necessary) from the Treasury department, and sending the payments to the appropriate tax authority
File payroll tax returns by running reports on a quarterly and/or monthly basis, reconciling them to ensure all of the information is accurate and all of the money due has been paid, and sending reports to the appropriate tax authority (when necessary).
Respond to inquiries made by associates and tax authorities regarding payroll taxes; research and formulate the appropriate resolutions to issues that arise during these inquiries
Resolve uncommon or infrequent balance issues by creating new system queries
Run and balance W2 tax reconciliation reports/tapes for local and state tax authorities
Assist with all aspects of W2 balancing and year-end procedures
Remain knowledgeable of where data is kept in the payroll system and how it is used to create balancing reports

Experience / Requirements

One (1) year of experience in the preparation of payroll tax deposits and returns required
Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Education

Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Accounting required
