Advanced Manufacturing Development Engineering Manager

The Advanced Manufacturing Development Engineering Manager will manage a technical staff to support activities related to Manufacturing Research & Development, Die Cast Development, and Materials Engineering. Responsibilities will include leadership to foster the integration and/or development of new manufacturing technologies, process improvement initiatives, and management of the Materials Engineering Laboratory.

Job Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Advanced Manufacturing R&D group, Materials Engineering Lab, and Die Cast Development group and their associated capital and operating budgets

Develop new manufacturing technologies, process improvement initiatives, and cost reduction programs

Seek out, evaluate, customize, integrate and implement new and existing manufacturing processes that improve quality, product performance, and manufacturing productivity

Provide necessary support for new engine/product programs and Briggs & Stratton operations

Develop goals and objectives for the technical staff that support the department's goals

Report monthly on project status, budget tracking, customer satisfaction, and other staff activities

Maintain and further develop customer relationships seeing those needs are met in a complete, timely fashion

Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management; department budget

Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required

Job Skills Requirements

Strong engineering background in process development, manufacturing, materials, and product development support

Direct experience in manufacturing processes used at Briggs and Stratton including die casting, machining, stamping, welding, fabrication, automation, and assembly

Ability to develop and coordinate activities of others and to focus major project resources to ensure assignments are completed accurately, on time, and on budget

Operating budget development and adherence

Strong project management, supervisory, planning, and team building skills as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong interpersonal, written communication and problem solving skills to effectively work with a diverse group of individuals

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related technical field

Experience Requirements

Minimum ten years of engineering or related experience

Three years of management experience

Proven track record of implementing innovative manufacturing solutions

Advanced Engineering, Engineering Management or MBA degree a plus

Physical & Environmental Requirements

May travel between 10-20% including both domestically and internationally
