Perform all types of repairs and maintenance to Company vehicles and equipment, together with shop and tools. Must have ability to work under general supervision, aptitude for mechanical work and ability to use all materials, tools and equipment commonly used in repair/service work.

Required:

• Must have ability to work under general supervision, aptitude for mechanical work and ability to use all materials, tools and equipment commonly associated with repair/service work.

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driving record.

• Must possess or have ability to acquire NJ Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Hazardous Materials and Tanker endorsements.

• Must have the ability to successfully complete PSEG’s Auto Technician Evaluation Program.

• High school graduate or equivalent.

• Must have obtained an acceptable score on the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) Test-Automotive or possess ASE certification.

• Safe driving record required.

Desirable:

• Technical school training or automotive certification.

• ASE certification; prior experience with hydraulic or construction equipment repair.

• 3-5 years automotive/mechanical repair experience.

Anyone accepting a Local 855 entry level position will now be locked into that position’s department and district, or mobile construction division, for a period of 5 years. They may not bid on any positions outside of their department or district, unless it is a mobile construction or MAST position, during those 5 years.

As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
