When first founded in 1994, AHL Legal only provided legal services in its early years of practice in the areas of migration and personal injury claims. Over the years, the demand of commercial services increased due to the booming number of Chinese migrants. At the same time, because of the amendments to the Civil Liability Act (NSW) 2002, the demand for legal services in personal injuries claims dropped drastically. As a result of these factors, AHL Legal started to focus on providing commercial legal services, especially litigation in the areas of equity and corporate law. AHL Legal’s practice in litigation was precedential in the Asian/ Chinese legal community and ultimately transformed the previous situation of Chinese law firms having almost no involvement in litigation.
