Summer associate program
Most of SNR Denton's offices offer summer associate programs. The work conditions are like a free-market system that is monitored by a summer work coordinator. Summer associates are expected to complete an average of 10 assignments during the eight-week summer program, and typically they spend about seven hours a day on billable work. On some occasions, summer associates even travel to other offices to assist with cases. Summer associates are paired with a mentor and given feedback on work by assigning attorneys. Also, SNR Denton provides summer associates access to the regular training offered to full-time associates, as well as training specifically for the summer class such as memo writing and professional development. The firm does not require rigid specializations and many attorneys combine multiple areas of expertise and continue to focus on a specific area. An attorney in each practice area typically assigns work to associates.
Working for the Dentons
SNR Denton has a minimum billable hours requirement of 2,000 hours in most offices. The firm offers, a two-tier partnership structure. Associates are considered for non-equity partner after five years and for equity partnership after eight years. The firm has collegial and supportive atmosphere, making the firm an international firm in its true sense. Also, flexibility in office hours is a plus for the firm. However, lack of transparency of firm leadership and limited profile and branding of the firm act as downers. SNR Denton offers 17-weeks of paid maternity leave, including four weeks at half pay. New fathers and adoptive parents are given four weeks at full pay and an additional four weeks at half pay if they are the primary caregivers.
