The Old Spaghetti Factory legend wasn’t created with advertising dollars, viral videos or an investment group’s startup capital. It was born out of one man’s decision to do things right.

Guss Dussin opened the first Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant in Portland, OR on January 10, 1969, without a single ad to announce his arrival. By the end of the night he had pocketed a paltry $171.80. But the Navy veteran had an ace up his sleeve.
