- In December 2011, Mayer Brown achieved a significant win for AT&T Mobility (ATTM) in a case in which U.S. iPhone purchasers alleged that ATTM's agreement with Apple to be the exclusive voice/data provider for iPhones violated the Sherman Act. Applying Mayer Brown's Supreme Court victory in AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion, a California federal court compelled arbitration and decertified the class.
- In April 2012, Mayer Brown represented Nestle in its $11.85 billion acquisition of Pfizer's infant nutrition business. Expected to close by June 2013, the deal is one of the largest acquisitions of 2012 and Nestle's largest ever.
- Mayer Brown secured a significant victory on behalf of the Government of Indonesia regarding a dispute before the World Trade Organization (WTO). The WTO's appellate body upheld an earlier ruling that U.S. restrictions on the sale and production of certain flavored cigarettes improperly discriminated against clove cigarettes produced in Indonesia in favor of menthol cigarettes produced and sold in the U.S.

Summer associate program
The summer program at Mayer Brown has a duration of 10-11 weeks, depending on the office. Typically, a summer associate is expected to complete between 11 and 15 projects during the summer, and spend about seven hours a day working on assignments, also on pro bono matters during the summer.
The firm offers formal training throughout the summer, including day-long workshops on negotiations, depositions, and legal writing. To make the summer program more interesting and enjoyable, Mayer Brown holds social events for summers once a week, and activities include a city tour, dinners and baseball games.
Most associates find the attorneys at the firm as "friendly, supportive, and eager to help." But one should be patient enough to get an offer from the firm as generally it is seen that "offers are given several weeks after the program ends, often after OCI." In 2009, the firm made offers to 73% of its 104 summer associates, but it increased its offer rate to 88% in 2010. The stipend ranged around $5,000 monthly in 2009.

There are two partnership tracks at Mayer Brown, with an average of eight years required for non-equity partnership and an additional three to five years for equity partnership. The firm has a minimum requirement of 2,000 billable hours in most offices.
Unlike other law firms, Mayer Brown takes due care of the family affairs of its associate and lawyers. The firm provides four weeks of annual vacation depending on the office location. From 2009 to 2011, the firm has been named as one of the "Top Ten Family Friendly Firms," by Yale Law Women. The firm also allows all attorneys to telecommute and work flex-time schedules on a case-by-case basis.
