Sherwood & Garlick, P.C. is the oldest, continuously operating law firm in Westport, Connecticut, and was founded by Harry R. Sherwood in 1899, when he was twenty-six years old. Having no college education, he went to the new principal of Staples High School, Mr. Wilbur Cross, who later became Governor of Connecticut. Harry was well-tutored by Mr. Cross and was admitted to Yale Law School in 1896 at the age of twenty-three. He graduated from Yale Law School after two years of study.
